Introduction: Why This InMotion Hosting Review 2025 is Different
Letβs be realβmost web hosting “reviews” online are nothing more than sales pages packed with affiliate links. That’s why we’ve created our comprehensive web hosting comparison guide to help you make informed decisions based on real testing. In many cases, the author has never even used the hosting service theyβre recommending.
This InMotion hosting review 2025 is different. I personally tested InMotion Hostingβs WP Power plan for over a month. Thanks to Maria A., Affiliate Operations Lead at InMotion Hosting, who kindly provided me with a free test account, I was able to run real-world performance checks and explore their features in depth.
Hereβs what I did during my testing:
- Installed WordPress with Elementor and Yoast SEO to simulate a real website setup
- Ran Google PageSpeed Insights and performance tests from the US, Europe, and Asia
- Contacted their support team multiple times to evaluate response times and knowledge
- Monitored uptime and site reliability throughout the testing period
My goal isn’t to just earn a commission. It’s to give you the straight, unbiased truth so you can decide if it’s right for YOUR business.
Bottom Line Up Front:
InMotion Hosting is excellent for US-based users thanks to reliable uptime and responsive support. However, if your audience is outside the US, speed performance is disappointing compared to other providers.
π Ready to Try InMotion Hosting?
If most of your visitors are in the United States, InMotion is a reliable choice with strong uptime and responsive support.
- 24/7 US-Based Support

Disclosure: This is an affiliate link. If you purchase through it, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Who Am I? And Why You Should Trust Me
Iβm a website owner and blogger, just like you. I depend on my hosting to be fast, secure, and reliable. Iβm not a huge corporation with unlimited budgets β I test hosting services as a real user because I want to know what actually works (and what doesnβt).
Yes, I am an InMotion affiliate, which means I may earn a commission if you buy through my links. But hereβs the important part: I donβt publish sugar-coated reviews. Every opinion you read here comes from my own testing β not from marketing hype. My goal is to share the real results so you can decide if InMotion is the right fit for your website or business.

The Core Dilemma: Why Most Hosting Reviews Arenβt Helpful
If youβve searched for hosting reviews before, youβve probably noticed a pattern: many sites sound almost identical, praising every host without pointing out any downsides. Thatβs because hosting companies often offer affiliate commissions, which can unintentionally create a bias toward highlighting only the positives.
My approach is different: I focus on earning your trust. If I can help you avoid a bad fit and make a smarter decision, youβre more likely to come back for future advice. For me, that long-term relationship is far more valuable than making a quick commission from a one-sided review.

How to Host a Sub-Domain on InMotion (Without Transferring Your Domain)
As I am only testing InMotion Hosting for this review, I did not want to transfer my main domain. Instead, I added a sub-domain to host on InMotion. Hereβs how I did it:
- Login to InMotion
First, log in to InMotion through the AMP (Account Management Panel) login. - Access cPanel
Once logged in, navigate to cPanel from the AMP dashboard. - Go to Domains Section
Scroll down to the bottom of the cPanel page. You will find a section called Domains. Click it, and it will open a new window. - Create a New Domain
In the new window, you will see an option to Create a New Domain.- Domain: Enter the sub-domain you want to create.
In my case: testinmotion.techfin2k.com - Document Root (File System Location): Specify the directory where you want the files for this sub-domain to exist. You can leave it as default or choose a custom folder.
- Subdomain: The system will automatically assign a subdomain for the addon domain, e.g., testinmotion.techfin2k.com.14c737XXXXX933061.temporary.link
- Domain: Enter the sub-domain you want to create.
- Submit to Create the Sub-Domain
Once all the fields are filled, click Submit. Your sub-domain is now created on the InMotion server. - Use the Sub-Domain While Installing WordPress
Later, when installing WordPress (via Softaculous in cPanel), make sure to select this sub-domain as the installation domain. This ensures that WordPress is installed specifically on testinmotion.techfin2k.com

Note: All screenshots shown are from my own InMotion account for testing purposes. The temporary system paths and sub-domain setup are unique to my account and safe to use. This demonstrates the process without affecting my main website.
Why This Sub-Domain Setup is Safe for Testing
I had chosen this method for testing because it is completely safe. The sub-domain is isolated on my InMotion hosting account, keeping the main site unaffected. The temporary system path (e.g., xxxx.temporary.link) is unique and does not expose any sensitive information, making it ideal for safely experimenting with WordPress and plugins.
Installing WordPress on InMotion Hosting
Installing WordPress on InMotion is straightforward, and I followed these steps myself to ensure a smooth setup. This guide will help you get WordPress running on your sub-domain quickly.
Accessing cPanel / AMP
First, I logged in to my InMotion AMP (Account Management Panel). From the dashboard, I navigated to cPanel, which is where all website management tools are located. This gives me full control over my hosting account, including database management, file uploads, and software installations.
Installing WordPress
Once I logged into cPanel, I scrolled down to the WordPress Management option located under the Apps Installer tools. I clicked on it, which opened the installation process handled by Softaculous Apps Installer.
At the top-left, youβll see the βInstall WordPressβ button. I clicked on it, and it opened a new tab showing all the installation options. Here, I selected my sub-domain created earlier β testinmotion.techfin2k.com.
Softaculous then displayed a few customizable fields such as:
- Installation Path: (by default it shows something like
https://14c73725xxxxx061.temporary.link/wordpress) - Website Title: (e.g., βPizza Time,β but you can choose your own)
- Plugin/Theme Set: None (you can leave it blank or choose a starter set)
- Website Language: English (United States)
- WordPress Version: 6.8.2 (current at the time I tested)
- Administrator Username & Password: auto-generated (I recommend customizing for security)
- Admin Email: (e.g., [email protected])
I filled these in as per my needs (mainly the domain and site title) and then clicked Install. If you’re new to WordPress, understanding the platform differences is crucial – check our WordPress.com vs WordPress.org comparison to choose the right hosting-compatible option
From my testing, I found that having direct access to cPanel with Softaculous made the whole process fast, transparent, and beginner-friendly. It really took just a few clicks to get WordPress running.

Note: These screenshots are from my own InMotion Hosting test account. I personally accessed cPanel, configured WordPress settings, and captured the live installation progress to ensure the steps are accurate and beginner-friendly.
Enabling Free SSL Certificate on InMotion Hosting
One thing I really liked while testing InMotion is how simple it is to enable SSL. After installing WordPress, I went to the SSL/TLS Manager inside cPanel.
Thereβs a straightforward check button to see if your domain (or sub-domain) is eligible for a free SSL certificate. Once confirmed, all I had to do was click Enable SSL.
Thatβs it β no coding, no complex setup, and no extra cost. Within a minute, my sub-domain was secured with HTTPS. For beginners or small business owners, this ease of use is a big advantage because it removes the need to deal with technical SSL configurations.
Pointing My Subdomain from Hostinger to InMotion Hosting
After setting up WordPress and enabling SSL, the final step was to make my subdomain (hosted on Hostinger) point to the server at InMotion Hosting.
Hereβs how I did it:
- Found the IP Address in InMotion
- Inside the Zone Editor of InMotionβs cPanel, I located the A Record for my temporary domain.
- The IP address assigned was: 192.xxx.xxx.xx.
- Logged in to Hostinger
- I opened the DNS Zone settings of my domain inside Hostinger.
- Created a New A Record
- Hostname: the subdomain name (e.g., testinmotion.techfin2k.com).
- Type: A Record
- Points to: 192.xxx.xxx.xx (the IP I got from InMotion).
- Propagation Time
- After saving, it usually takes a few minutes to a couple of hours for DNS changes to propagate.
- Once itβs live, my subdomain was successfully hosted on InMotion while my main domain stayed with Hostinger.
This method allowed me to host only the subdomain on InMotion without moving my entire domain from Hostinger, which is safe and ideal for testing purposes.

I personally noted this A record directly from InMotionβs Zone Editor to make sure the sub-domain points correctly. This way, you can trust that the steps shown here are real and safe to follow. β
Speed Testing: Performance
For this InMotion hosting review 2025, after installing WordPress and enabling SSL, I ran performance tests on the blank sub-domain (no content, no plugins). Below are the screenshots from different testing tools:
π PageSpeed.dev Results
- FCP (First Contentful Paint): 2.1 seconds
- LCP (Largest Contentful Paint): 2.7 seconds
Frankly, these numbers were a bit disappointing. It was surprising to see such lagging results on a completely empty WordPress site.
π GTmetrix & Pingdom Results
- GTmetrix: Performance score 100%, LCP at just 517ms
- Pingdom: Performance grade 91, Load time 1.39 seconds
Performance Comparison Table
| Tool | FCP | LCP | Performance Score | Load Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PageSpeed.dev | 2.1 sec | 2.7 sec | Moderate | N/A | Numbers looked poor for a blank site |
| GTmetrix | ~517ms | 517ms | 100% | 0.5β0.6 sec | Excellent performance shown |
| Pingdom | N/A | N/A | 91 (Grade A) | 1.39 sec | Fast load time, good grade |
π This clear comparison reveals that Google PageSpeed Insights often detects performance issues that other tools overlook. For website owners, mastering Core Web Vitalsβincluding LCP (Largest Contentful Paint), INP (Interaction to Next Paint), and CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift)βis essential to optimize site speed and overall hosting performance. Explore our complete Core Web Vitals guide to learn actionable strategies that improve these critical metrics and enhance your websiteβs loading experience. In the next section, Iβll show how I dramatically improved PageSpeed scores even after adding multiple plugins and image-heavy posts, proving that proper optimization can make any WordPress site faster.
Initial speed tests on InMotion Hosting: PageSpeed showed slower results, while GTmetrix and Pingdom reported excellent performance.
Speed Test Results After Adding Content & Essential Plugins
To make the test closer to a real-world website setup, I migrated some posts from my free WordPress.com blog (onlinesolutionsforfinanacialneeds) and installed commonly used plugins that most beginners and small businesses rely on.
Installed Plugins During Test
- Elementor β Page builder
- Yoast SEO β On-page SEO optimization
- Contact Form 7 β Simple contact forms
- CookieAdmin β Cookie Consent Banner & CookieAdmin Pro β GDPR compliance
- Jetpack β Site stats, security, and performance
I have personally installed these plugins and migrated content from my WordPress.com site to InMotion Hosting. This demonstrates the real setup I used for testing site performance and functionality.
Along with Cloudflare caching and SSL, this represents a practical WordPress setup with actual blog content
Page speed test results
| Tool | FCP | LCP | Performance Score | Load Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PageSpeed.dev | 1.1 s | 1.7 s | 99 / 100 | 3.2 s (Speed Index) | Excellent metrics after optimization |
| GTmetrix | ~360 ms | 360 ms | 100% (Grade A) | Very fast | Top Web Vitals, nearly perfect |
| Pingdom | N/A | N/A | 87 (Grade B) | 732 ms | Good balance, fast load with 21 requests |
These screenshots show real speed test results from my WordPress site hosted on InMotion Hosting, including PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix, and Pingdom, demonstrating site performance after optimization and plugin installation
π Analysis of Results
- PageSpeed Insights (99/100):
Excellent optimization after using Cloudflare, Elementor, Yoast SEO, and essential plugins. LCP is at 1.7s, well below Googleβs recommended 2.5s, and CLS is 0, meaning no layout shifts. The slightly higher Speed Index (3.2s) reflects how fast above-the-fold content becomes visually complete, which is still very good. - GTmetrix (100% Performance, 99% Structure):
This test shows the best result, with an LCP of only 360ms, meaning the largest element loads almost instantly. GTmetrix uses different testing servers and conditions compared to Googleβs mobile simulation, which is why its metrics look even better. - Pingdom (B87, 732ms load, 99.7KB, 21 requests):
While the load time is under 1s, the grade is slightly lower because Pingdom penalizes for multiple requests (21) and small scripts/styles added by plugins (Jetpack, Contact Form 7, CookieAdmin). Still, a sub-1s load time is excellent for real-world performance.
β Overall:
- GTmetrix shows the fastest performance under lab conditions.
- PageSpeed Insights confirms Google-friendly Web Vitals are well-optimized.
- Pingdom highlights the real-world effect of added plugins, but load time is still well below 1s, which is impressive.
| Tool | Metric | Before Optimization | After Optimization | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google PageSpeed | Performance Score | 92 | 99 | Improved β |
| Largest Contentful Paint | 2.3s | 1.7s | Faster β | |
| Speed Index | 4.5s | 3.2s | Improved β | |
| Pingdom | Performance Grade | 91 (A) | 87 (B) | Reduced β |
| Load Time | 1.1s | 0.73s | Faster β | |
| Page Size | 145 KB | 99.7 KB | Reduced β | |
| GTmetrix | Performance | 95% | 100% | Improved β |
| Structure | 97% | 99% | Improved β | |
| Largest Contentful Paint | 820ms | 360ms | Faster β |
π Draft Explanation (Before vs After)
After running speed tests before and after optimization, hereβs what happened:
- Google PageSpeed
- The performance score jumped from 92 β 99, thanks to Cloudflare caching and plugin optimization (Elementor, Yoast SEO, and other essential plugins).
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) improved from 2.3s β 1.7s, meaning above-the-fold content loads faster.
- Speed Index dropped from 4.5s β 3.2s, showing overall rendering improved.
- Pingdom
- Load time got better (1.1s β 0.73s) and page size reduced (145 KB β 99.7 KB), proving that caching and CDN compression worked.
- However, the Performance Grade dropped from A91 β B87. This is normal, because Pingdom uses a different grading system, focusing heavily on best practices (like fewer requests, advanced caching headers, fewer third-party scripts). Even if speed improved, their grading may penalize if additional plugins increase request counts.
- GTmetrix
- Performance (95% β 100%) and Structure (97% β 99%) clearly improved.
- LCP reduced drastically (820ms β 360ms) showing faster above-the-fold rendering.
- GTmetrix did not show a negative trade-off, meaning the optimizations worked perfectly here.
These impressive speed results make InMotion a solid choice for performance-focused websites. The sub-1 second load times and excellent Web Vitals scores demonstrate their optimized infrastructure working as promised
β‘ Experience InMotion’s Fast Loading Times
Reliable speed, secure hosting, and strong uptime. See the difference with InMotion Hosting.
π Try InMotion Nowπ Why Some Metrics Improved & Some Reduced
- Improved Metrics: Cloudflareβs CDN + caching + Elementorβs optimized loading made pages lighter and faster to render, which helped PageSpeed and GTmetrix scores significantly.
- Reduced Metrics (Pingdom grade): Adding extra plugins (Contact Form 7, CookieAdmin, Jetpack, etc.) slightly increased the number of HTTP requests. Even though overall load time improved, Pingdomβs algorithm penalized the grade due to extra requests and third-party scripts.
- Overall: Real-world performance is much better after optimization, even if one grading system shows a drop.
Uptime Monitoring and Customer Support Testing
Uptime Test Results
I conducted an initial uptime test for my InMotion-hosted WordPress site using UptimeRobot, and here are the results from the first 48 hours:
- Current Status: Up
- Overall Uptime: 100%
- Incidents: 0
- Down Time: 0 seconds
The 100% uptime in my testing period showcases InMotion’s reliable infrastructure. For businesses that can’t afford downtime, this level of reliability is crucial for maintaining customer trust and revenue.

Support Response Times and Quality
Customer Support Testing
I wanted to test the responsiveness and helpfulness of InMotion Hostingβs customer support. I used their 24/7 live chat feature and interacted with multiple agents regarding speed issues, sub-domain hosting, and onboarding WordPress content.
My Experience with Live Chat
During my chat sessions, I shared my verification code and asked for assistance with:
- Slow FCP and LCP values on a blank WordPress site.
- Hosting my sub-domain testinmotion.techfin2k.com on InMotion while keeping the main domain on Hostinger and using Cloudflare.
- Onboarding and importing WordPress themes/content through Softaculous.
Response Times and Queue Highlights:
- In my first chat session on Aug 27, 2025, I was at 9th place in the queue and it took 20 minutes for an agent to join. This shows that peak times may require a short wait, but itβs still reasonable for live support.
- In all subsequent chat sessions, the agents joined within 30 seconds, which is impressively fast.
How the Support Helped
The support agents were prompt, patient, and technically knowledgeable:
- They explained that the speed results I saw on mobile and desktop were mostly due to page optimization and shared server traffic, which is expected for shared hosting.
- They guided me on DNS setup and sub-domain configuration, clarifying that Cloudflare name servers must be set at the domain level for proper CDN functionality.
- They also increased PHP resource limits to help me upload themes and content efficiently.
Even when I asked advanced questions about server response time and optimization, they provided actionable advice:
βShared servers will have fluctuations based on traffic. To achieve better speed, consider using caching, image optimization, or upgrading to a VPS plan.β β Tom H., Technical Support
Overall Impression
- Availability: 24/7 live chat, plus phone and email support for technical and billing queries.
- Responsiveness: Peak wait time of 20 minutes (9th in queue), all other sessions under 30 seconds.
- Technical Expertise: Agents correctly identified issues related to page optimization, DNS setup, and server performance.
I personally tested InMotionβs live chat support and documented each step to showcase the reliability and expertise of their team
| Chat Session Date | Queue Position | Time to Join Agent | Agent Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aug 27, 2025 | 9th | 20 min (peak time) | Tom H. | Slightly longer wait due to peak hours, resolved queries efficiently |
| Aug 31, 2025 | 1st | ~30 sec | Tom H. | Fast response, quick technical guidance |
| Aug 28, 2025 | 2nd | ~30 sec | Chris Ce. | Prompt assistance with WordPress onboarding and PHP limits |
Based on this InMotion hosting review 2025 testing, I feel confident that anyone using InMotion Hosting can rely on their support team, whether itβs a beginner setting up WordPress or someone managing advanced DNS and performance issues.
The 24/7 knowledgeable support alone makes InMotion worth considering. Having experts available whenever you need help is invaluable for website owners who can’t afford extended downtime or technical issues.
